 |
|
I'm running Mandriva Spring Free 2008 64 Bit
I tried all sorts but can not work out how to install this game . I opened a Konsole from the folder and went root and I followed these instructions but could get nothing to work .
Quote:
unzip warsow_0.42_unified.zip
You will now have a new folder called “warsow_0.42_unified“, in which you’ll have to make some files executable:
Quote:
chmod u+x warsow warsow.i386 warsow.x86_64
Will I have messed anything up ?
Do I need to undo anything ?
Can anyone help me get this pesky game to run ?

In terminal cd to the folder mentioned then in terminal type:
./warsow
or
./warso.i386
if you have a 32bit system
./warsow.x86_64
if you have a 64bit system.

Hi followed your advice but nothing happened appart from this ,
./warsow.x86_64: error while loading shared libraries: libcurl.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I remembered that I had seen something like this elsewhere so after a search I found advice and did this ,
[root@localhost warsow_0.42_unified]# ln -s /usr/lib64/libcurl.so.4 /usr/lib64/libcurl.so.3
Followed your advice and did ,
./warsow.x86_64
The game started to load in the terminal , so at least I am getting somewhere , after loading maps and files etc , and some sound ware stuff . I end up with this ,
WARNING: sdlmixsamps wasn't a power of two (7520), so we made it one (4096).

This changed my desktop and I could not access the toolbar and menu at the bottom of the screen and of course the game did not start .
Still at least I am a bit further on than I was . So nearly there , any more help would be great . thanks .

Hi again,
I did a restart and my desktop is now back to normal .
When I try to re-configure the desktop I get this message ,
Your X server is using the RandR extension at version 1.2 or greater which dosen't have any configuration yet .
I do not have a clue what that means or how to fix it .
Is this normal or have I messed something up ?
Help would be gratefully accepted ..
Thanks . |

@ Erik
Yeah, have been through it myself when attempting to run Glest the other day.
I think you should make sure you fulfill the system requirements for your game.
If the game complains about opengl1.3 not available, is missing opengl extensions or works very slowly look at
glxinfo
and make sure the system is using ATI or NVIDIA driver and NOT the mesa drivers
glxinfo | grep -i mesa should return nothing
I found this article pretty enlighting and useful. |
