| How well does Mandriva work on tablet pc's? I really don't want to go with Vista, but I haven't heard anything about linux on a tablet. |

i've had fairly good luck with mandriva.2008 and a lenovo x60 tablet (detailed here: http://gfb1.blogspot.com).
i still haven't gotten the screen to autorotate; krandr crashes the system; and gnome seems to integrate the tablet/stylus combo better than kde. gnome also integrates the fingerprint reader quite well.
i prefer xournal to jarnal; but haven't really begun with any handwriting recognition software. |

well, at the risk of sounding like a president a few years back... it depends on what you mean by 'work'.
i keep my x60t as a dual-boot with vista & mandriva 2008 (after all, we're paying a c-note for windoze). having said that, i've only used vista less than once per week -- mostly when wandering campus and trying to negotiate with our temperamental cisco wireless vpn...
'my' matrix of what works and doesn't is here:
http://gfb1.blogspot.com/2007/10/lenovo-x60-and-linux-matrix.html
(just page down.. it's a lousy format)
i have nearly all of the tablet face buttons working and will post as soon as i'm done.
almost bought the hp. there are a few forums that discuss linux installation... not sure about mandriva builds. |
