Hello --
running rpmdrake gives:
error: Runnning db->verify ...
rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery
error: db4 error(-30975) from dbenv->open: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
[same stuff over and over]
error: Runnning db->verify ...
rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery
error: db4 error(-30975) from dbenv->open: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery

error: db4 error(-30975) from dbenv->open: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
error: Runnning db->verify ...
Segmentation fault
as a result I cannot add media, cannot update system, and cannot install any software from Software management in MCC.
What are my options? I would appreciate any help.

Are you on the 2008 Beta?
If so that could be the problem |

rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db*
rpm --rebuilddb
should clear it. _________________ Adam Williamson | http://www.happyassassin.net

Thank you, Adam --
Your suggestion worked. The problem disappeared completely. It probably started when I clicked "Cancel" while updating media.

Hello
I also upgraded from 2007.0 to 2008 and the trick only works once. Then I have to do it everytime again.... |

| The problem keeps reoccurring every second time after rpm --rebuilddb. Seems like rpmdrake leaves the db in a faulty state |

well, we're trying. that's what the bug report is for. the problem is that we can't figure out precisely what causes it. it doesn't happen everywhere. if you can post the information about your situation on the report, it may help, and pixel may ask you to provide him with information to help diagnose the problem. _________________ Adam Williamson | http://www.happyassassin.net

my question is I have used this about 45 times since I found it. It works well, however my question is what keeps breaking the rpm database, if I ever lose the link to your post I will be screwed.....thanks jjim |

Hello,
I am experiencing the same problem and to carry out the verification of packages rpm with rpm -Va, i saw several cases of dependencies problem, I guess that the upgrade did not work at 100% or packages were downloaded from standalone sites. Seeing this, I began to remove these packages by little to prove, first remove postgresql and libcpq, who for some time was calling for a conflict of libraries at the time of upgrade. After remove the problem of corruption remained. However, when you remove xpdf-tools (when i try to update, throw an error about a conflict with poppler and the message say what can update other apps), I was able to do the upgrade without being corrupt the database at this time of the download 23 of 94 without problems.
If works fine or fails, i tell you. |
