For anyone who doesn't read my blog - unfortunately, I've just been informed that my contract with Mandriva will end as of December 31st; the new CEO has decided to cut most external contractors.
I've had a great time working for MDV and particularly working on these forums with all of you guys, so thanks for that. I think myself lucky every day that I get paid to troll around on forums while the rest of you guys do it in your leisure time
I'll try to find some time to carry on posting here even after I leave, though it will depend on what my new job is. Germ's employment is not terminated, so unless he chooses to leave, he will take over as the main forum representative, so please show him all the near-religious deference that you guys have always shown to me . Please do bear in mind, though, that he's only paid a part-time (very part-) salary and please don't expect him to be able to invest as much time into these forums as I was, that would be an unfair expectation on him. I'm sure he'll be doing everything he can, though.

Well, all I can say Adam is that your work here has been amazing.
You are one of the most value assets at this part of the bussiness.
Politic definitions are good to manage companies. But they have to know to respect and take care of the assets of the company to help business process.
They are failing firing you.
Or, perphaps the reason is that Mandriva Community is no more part of the bussines and don't care about power pack subscriptions going down.
We really don't know what really want OCCAM Capital from Mandriva.
So Adam, I hope you''ll stay arround.
It would be a mess loosing you for the whole worldwide community as bad as it would have been for us in Germany loosing wobo, who thankfully stood with us.
So don't go fully and perhaps someone could explain the importance of the community-people like you to thos less-enlightened people at the top of most companies nowadays...
To be short - I really hope it's not bad for You, Adam. It is serious loss for us and I'm really worried about proceses in Mandriva now...
In the time spent here mostly reading and learning, one of the things I value most is the energy You give to the forum (and I suppose to Mandriva in common).
Hope You will at least ocasionaly be here for a long time and above the all - wish You to have next position which is both challenge and fullfilment.

Adam, I know it's not Thanksgiving Day in the UK or Canada, but it's Thanksgiving Day here in the US. You've given us all a lot to be thankful for, and you'll never know how much it's been appreciated.
IMHO, this is a huge mistake as David says, and it shouldn't be tolerated. Looks like the American Corp attitude has hit Paris, to start with the best, and then work one's way down to the worst.
So, to the CEO of Mandriva, and to all involved in Adam's leaving, I'll say one thing:
This is really a stupid decision. I thought Mandriva stopped making stupid decisions. I was wrong.
Adam I wish you the best anywhere you go.

After all you've done for mandriva they just decide they can terminate your contract? I don't understand. Don't they know you've made a difference in the distro? Can't they remember what this very forum was like before you were hired?

Well Adam its not going to be the same. As far as I'm concerned you are the face of Mandriva, without you the forum just won't be the same. What's this blokes email address. .
