Please, note that I didn't finish to flush my bugzilla queue yet. Only the
patches that have been queued for too long got applied.
Also, I'd like to ask you to test USB devices. As much as you can. I've
applied a patch to fix a USB ECHI driver bug which makes some machines to hang
in the boot. That fix may introduce hard to caught regressions.
Oh yes, #21345 should be fixed now.

Le kernel "uc" est le prochain kernel qui sera disponible dans les mises à jours officielles de Mandriva Linux 2006. Vous pouvez donc l'installer avant tout le monde, en avant-première et le tester afin de :
- Voir s'il résout vos problèmes matériels
- Bénéficer des patches de sécurité en avance par rapport au kernel officiel
- Voir s'il n'introduit pas de régression (un matériel qui marchait correctement avant et qui ne marche plus ensuite)
- Voir s'il n'introduit pas de bugs (le noyau ne boote pas ou "panique")
Il est fortement conseillé de conserver son kernel actuel en plus du kernel "uc", ce qui permet de revenir sur cet ancien kernel en cas de problème (très simple : il suffit de choisir l'entrée correspondant à la version du kernel dans le menu de démarrage de l'ordinateur). Il est par contre quasi-impossible que votre matériel soit endommagé par le kernel uc.
Le kernel uc est disponible au même moment où il est testé dans les laboratoires de Mandriva. Les régressions et les bugs sont rares, mais ne sont pas impossibles. Au moindre bug ou regression rencontrée, vous pouvez contacter directement Luiz (en anglais) (lcapitulano@mandriva.com.br) qui s'occupe avec son équipe de nous concocter ces petits kernels. Pour les anglophobes, vous pouvez toujours m'envoyer un PM ou un email et j'informerais luiz de votre problème.
Je mettrais ce fil régulièrement à jour car je suis au courant du dernier uc sorti étant sur la liste de diffusion "kernel-discuss". Vous pouvez vous-même y souscrire si cela vous intéresse. |
